Laundry Renovation

Renovating a laundry is often overlooked in terms of renovations, but a well-thought out laundry can save you hours in housework and eliminate a large number of household headaches. When designing a laundry system that works for you, it is imperative to consider not only the appliances and their placement but the functionality of the storage especially if room size is a constraint as these are high traffic areas with a lot of different sized items needing storage. '

Key areas of consideration include:

Washing machine orientation: Front loader washing machines are more common these days as they are more efficient and more environmentally friendly, they also allow for bench tops to flow through the room maximising work area and allowing for overhead storage.

They are also useful for European laundry designs which are becoming more popular, these are a great option for space saving as they allow for a dryer to be hung above the washing machine, these are commonly found in apartment or townhouse style residences.

Top loader washing machines are not as commonly used as previous years, they are generally an existing appliance to renovate around or found in commercial situations.

Laundry trough: With more benchtop space being a commonly desired addition to a laundry, integrated sinks are a great way to eliminate a traditional freestanding cabinet/trough layout in favour of the space saving and flexibility of a benchtop mounted sink. This also allows for all the plumbing to be centralised during rough in to accommodate both trough and washing machine fixtures.
